Last Lectures

My last honors event that I attended or rather will attend is the Last lectures event.
Now I know I was supposed to attended 4 events prior to the time of this essay/blog, however none of the others interested/ It was impossible for me to attend due to class, like clean up table rock. This event for whatever reason made me want to go to this one. The thought of learning of what our final days of our first semester intreged me and I can not wait to go to this event.

COT Marathon

The service based event I participated in was the City of Trees marathon
At this event, about a dozen honors students maned different parts of the marathon and half marathon race. I worked the traffic at corner of Boise and Chrisway, blocking traffic whenever the runners needed to cross (corner pictured below)
The point of us volunteering at this particular event, the ones working the intersections, was to ensure the safety of the runners. I honestly was very glad to help out, for one free t-shirt(picture below), and two, almost every runner said thank you as they ran by, which includes a few honors students, and it felt very rewarding to help make them feel safe, even though i didn't do much but stand in the middle of the intersection. I am grateful to have help those people. I would be glad to do it again.

Study Abroad

The Second event I attended was the Study Abroad seminar held in the Driscoll Lobby
Add about 50 people, a projecter, white screen and subtract Ben
The point of study abroad was to get us information about studying abroad. That may have been the point, however the meat of the presentation was mostly study abroad experiences, trying to convince people to actually study abroad. I wish it would have talked more about how to actually go about getting to study abroad. I did however receive 2 very useful pamphlets that do help. The people talked about the several different location that they visited, mostly different regions of spain, discussing the different cultures they experienced and their classes. They briefly touched on the the programs they used, only to never again mention how to go about studying abroad. I took away from that night that studying abroad is something that can be alot of fun, something myself and several others knew prior, and that it may or may not be difficult to do.

Welcome; Convocation

Welcome to Boise State and Welcome to My Honors Recount Assignment for Honors 198
Or rather Blog. In this Blog I will discussing the 4 honors events I attended this semester so lets jump right in.

The first event I attended, that many other students attended as well, was Convocation.
At Convocation, We were given a formal "welcome to college" by The president of both the student body and the university and a very hilarious professor with a top 10 like on Letterman. It served as nice little welcome and gave the students hope, hope that was killed by the second week of class, that college would nice and easy. This welcome held at the morrison center(lobby pictured below as I could not get into the Auditorium) taught me that college is what you make of it and if you put in alot of work then you will succeed and I hope that many others took this lesson away as well.
