At this event, about a dozen honors students maned different parts of the marathon and half marathon race. I worked the traffic at corner of Boise and Chrisway, blocking traffic whenever the runners needed to cross (corner pictured below)
The point of us volunteering at this particular event, the ones working the intersections, was to ensure the safety of the runners. I honestly was very glad to help out, for one free t-shirt(picture below), and two, almost every runner said thank you as they ran by, which includes a few honors students, and it felt very rewarding to help make them feel safe, even though i didn't do much but stand in the middle of the intersection. I am grateful to have help those people. I would be glad to do it again.
